Galena is the area around Galena Creek on the Mount Rose corridor south-west of Reno, forested and appreciably higher than the Truckee Meadows floor. That elevation difference is not cosmetic. Snowfall in the foothills west of Reno runs two to three times the roughly 20.9 inches the valley floor sees, and winter temperatures are correspondingly colder.
For basement work the practical consequences are two. First, insulation and air sealing matter more here than anywhere in the valley, both for compliance and for whether the finished room is somewhere you want to sit for two hours in January.
